In honor of their commitment to Breast Cancer Awareness, BlackAtlas.com sat down with the multiplatinum Musiq Soulchild to discuss travel, upcoming projects and his work as a Global Ambassador for Circle of Promise.
Musiq Soulchild performed his hit single "YES", composed specifically for breast cancer survivors. "YES" is a metaphor for unconditional love. Musiq felt it necessary to show the importance of men standing by their partners during a time when they are undergoing so many changes mentally and physically. The Real Men Wear Pink Cocktail Benefit raised $5,000 on behalf of Susan G. Komen for a Cure.
Musiq told JetMag he has "hit the ground running" as he spreads the word about breast cancer awareness.
"Go get screened, tested, checked," he urges women. "Know your body. Breast cancer is not an older woman’s disease. Young women get it, too, and African-American women are more affected than any other group."

"I just care about my fellow man and fellow woman. And I want to help in whatever small way I can."
There's no history of breast cancer in Musiq's family, but he was still compelled to join the fight. "I don’t need that as a motivating factor. There are people out there who are affected by it, that’s enough of a reason. I want to help.
