Yes! I've been to three live performances! The first experience was the best because I had the honor of meeting him (which I'm sure he doesn't remember me LOL). It was in Charlotte, NC...when he was on tour with Anthony H. and Chrisette M. I purchased a VIP package...and enjoyed every second! love u Musiq! You're a musical genious!
My sisters and I just saw MUSIQ in Dallas for the 4th time!!!! We love everything about him. We got to meet him the 3rd time around and he is sooo beautiful!! Have been following him for 10+ years, love him!!!
I went to see Musiq in Biloxi, MS 2-17-2012. The show was amazing! I just want to thank you Musiq for accepting my gift onstage. That was an awesome thing to do. I am still floating behind that one!
I have read some of the comments below which do not really cast a favorable light on some of Musiq's performances. Because I did not attend the same shows, I can not dare say anything against those comments (but again, who knows, I may have enjoyed them). All I can say is that we're all humans, and unfortunately, we will never consistently be "perfect" even if someone pays us to be. I think what is important to take away from Musiq's performance on 8/2/2011 and from his music as a whole is that he sincerely tries to be true to himself and his music so that, in the end, his fan base is pleased. While he is relatively young (yes, I'm 35 and I consider 30-something to be relatively young:)), it is simply incredible how much he understands what soul music is all about. That is, we didn't grow up during the birth of Motown but, fortunately, was able to get exposure to this wonderful music decades later. And, I am more than convinced that Musiq gets soul music because I believe he is another EXAMPLE of soul music. Yes, I realize that this is a very strong opinion. But, I would be remissed if I didn't express such opinion--especially considering the fact that I so believe that this is true:). To my Fellow Fans, please keep supporting Musiq Soulchild in every way possible--whether it is buying a ticket to his concert, a new and/or old CD, etc. We shouldn't be afraid to spread the message that Musiq Soulchild and his music are well worth it!! (And in case you're wondering, no, I am not any type of paid spokesperson for Musiq...just a real fan). Take care, and God Bless!!
Hi Fellow Musiq Fans! Yes, I had the privilege of sharing my first Musiq Soulchild concert with my mom who had never attended any concert in her life because she was never a fan of large crowds. The concert took place at the MGM Casino (Foxwoods in Ledyard, CT) on Aug 2, 2011. We were fortunate to be in the very front row--center staged/aisle-seating and was able to see Musiq and his wonderful band up close and personal! I am still mindblown at how Musiq swept me off my feet with the following: (1) making connections between soul music and every day problems people experience in relationships; (2) sharing his definition of "soul" music and demonstrating the same through his powerful voice and music; (3) acknowledging that his haters continue to motivate him and that they should really stop hating as there is no reason to do so (because, basically, what it all boils down to is people's different taste in music, which everyone is entitled to possess--that's what makes us individuals, right?); (4) showing love for his band and the entire audience; (5) showing much sense of humor at appropriate times and then easily reverting back to a more serious tone at the right times so that his overall performance flowed smoothly and sensibly; and (6) wearing really nice attire which made me realize how much of a class act he truly is! Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to give him a hug or a hand shake, and simply tell him what a huge fan I am. But, I'm pretty sure he saw me really enjoying myself and probably heard me as I sang every word to "previouscats" which many people didn't seem to know or didn't care to sing along. Although I do not know Musiq personally, he seems to be a genuine and humble individual. I know for a fact that a couple of his band members are. For e.g., one of his band members thanked me on Twitter for the comments which I posted regarding this Aug 2nd concert and now follows me!
I must continue this comment due to space limitation...
I saw Musiq live in concert last night at Foxboro. I have to say that he was amazing!!! He took the time to say hello to us while we stood in line before the concert. I was inpressed with that. The band that opened for him was Elevation. They did a great job although I felt that their lead singer was trying too hard to imitate Musiq. I wish he would be more original. He has such a great voice.
Musiq came on at around 9 and sang songs from most if not all of his albums. His passion for soul music was evident. I was amazed at the quality of his voice, his ability to interact with the audience and his overall stage presence.
He sounds great on his CDs but I had no idea how broad his vocal range was and how much he could do with his voice.
He took the time to honor his bands efforts and even allowed his background singers Angel and Kevin to solo. Wow!!! Their voices blew the audience away.
Musiq urged the audience and lovers of soul music to continue to support the artists who work so hard to do great music.
My only disappointment was that I did not get to take a picture with him.
Musiq Soulchild is a real musician/ artist/ lyricist/ singer/ performer! I highly recommend seeing him live.
I am a huge Musiq fan but I left very disappointed. Musiq was late coming out so we didn't end up leaving the venue until after 11:30. The opening acts were so random and terrible. Sean Garrett? What does he have in common with Musiq? Totally different genre. Sean was humping all across the stage, showing his underwear, using very vulgar language and then 50 cent came out...?!?!?! Really? Seriously? If I wanted a rap concert, I would've attended Lil Wayne's tour! When Musiq finally came out, he seemed to be upset about something. He kept ranting about buying his album and not bootlegging it or soul music was going to die. I have bought (from Walmart and Target) all his albums, maybe even 3 of each over the years so I don't need the 'spanking'! LOL I go to his show every year so I support soul music. I didn't appreciate it at all. Its kind of like disciplining the good kids along with the bad kids, get my drift. I will still support Musiq because I love his music but his label or manager needs to do better!
I finally saw him at the house of blues in Dallas! I had been looking online for a show in TX and when I found out he was coming I was very excited. I first heard his music in late 2009 and fell in love with the song "someone". Little did I know that he had 4 other albulms (at the time) so I started listening to his music and a year later he is my favorite R&B artist. I love his passion for music and personally admire him for making music that matters. I can't wait for him to come back to Tx but next time come to San Antonio :)
Hello! I hate to say that my comments are not as positive. Musiq was at Summerfest in Milwaukee Wisconsin last night. Being a major fan, I was extremely excited to see him perform. Boy, was I sadly disappointed. A couple of things were just off: His background singers, although good as individuals, were horrible. Their harmony was hideous. I didn't expect that. Musiq himself didn't seem as though he took this performance seriously. He was so random with his comments. He talked so much when we came to here him sing. He talked about relationships in a way that seemed as if he had just been romantically burned by someone. That took up most of his time. He didn't sing many of his hits or his signature gems. Then at the end, he threw some of his hits together. He was not on his "A" game with his voice either and yet he kept trying to hit all these high notes. Then in one of the medleys, he threw in an Anita Baker song, singing it in falsetto. OK, WHY? He has so much that we love, we couldn't understand why he did that. He talked about having to sing the same songs for the last 15 years as if it was a problem for him. He talked about how its our job to keep supporting him so he can make money. These things are known w/o having to be said. This night, he wasn't worth a dime. It seemed as if he was either depressed or under the influence of something. I'm sure having the sappy background singers was a discouragement but he could have worked through that had he kept singing the songs we love. I was so disappointed and thought to myself that I would never buy a ticket to see him. I'll still with the cds.
By the way, the band was good! Musiq, I truly felt bad for you...you kept going with the crappy stuff not even paying attention to the groves of people leaving your set. I know you are better than this. You owe Milwaukee BIG!!!!!
Hi all,
I want to start by saying that I hope this feedback is taken seriously because I love the neo-soul movement and Musiq. I was at the show last night in Atlantic City, NJ. I finally convinced my husband to go to a concert with me as he is not a fan of large crowds. Ok here it goes. The start time of the event was scheduled for 8pm. Knowing how things happen I did not expect it to start exactly at 8 so we take our seats get a drink and waited. Then at around 8:45pm we are sitting in the balcony and we see the "opening act" just arrive and start taking pictures. They then come to the stage and put on the worse performance ever that they have a friend video tape. It was so bad that the crowd started Booing everytime they started another song (most of which was other artist raps that they didnt know the words to). My husband and I laughed as the crowd started to turn against them. They finally said godd night at 9:25pm and then we started to wait again. the couple next to us took a nap and others started to play on their phones. At 10pm Musiq finally comes on stage only to get an hour long show (a great show but still only an hour). So not only did we miss our 11pm dinner reservations but for 3 hours we got a total of an hour and 25 minute show of which 25 minutes was a waste. Please know that I have been to many concerts and have had to wait for a great performance but this was really bad. I hope you take this as feedback to help improve so that another couple doesn't have to spend their night waiting and then eating Wawa tuna hoagies for dinner.
Musiq knows for himself when in Baltimore..they like the old songs but when he release new songs..they still wanna do the old stuff..move on..his musiq is great...pretty sure he would like to headline at the arena or as they still call it...the civic center...be he can go to the D--Detroit and rock the FOX or Joe Louis Arean (which is old) or the Cobo Hall if that still exist... LUVINMUSIQ and the answer is YES...can't wait too see and hear ur music
Yes.and to the most..YES and why baltimore when I've seen him you don't give him the luv he needs..he works hard for a performance in b-more but I'm by way of the D--detroit and I miss him coming to b-more. I'll be the loud one up front singing along while everyone else at..pier six, lyric(close now), rams head rooting Mr. MUSIQ along
I have NEVER seen him live yet... Musiq, please come to come to LA or SD!!! He should know he has at least 1 strong supporting fan on the west coast!!! Please!!!
Really wish he would though...
I saw him at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ. He gave me his towel!!!! And, I got to hang with him in the VIP at the Foundation Room. He puts on a great show. Hope he comes back soon.
I have only seen him twice so far. Me and my shirt are ready for the next concert though! My favorite was when he came to IP Casino in January of this year. I was so excited I was in the 2nd row wearing real colorful jeans! That was my first time sitting that close, he was so good, he interacted with the audience and really seemed to enjoy himself. Just a great time I will never forget. Oh and thanks to the real handsome guy that took my poems and was real sweet to me sorry I did not get your name.
