Billboard reports Musiq has a book "in its early, embryonic development stage," although he hopes to publish it "by summer -- definitely before the fall." And the subject comes from some of his favorite topics to sing and write about.
"It's going to be about love and relationships, and love and music," Musiq explains. "Basically it's just a man with an opinion ranting about love and relationships and how my music is affected by them and how my music impacts other people's relationships.
In a recent interview with Singersroom, Musiq has announced the time has come for him to focus more on writing and producing and working behind the scenes.
"I think I want to take a step back a little bit as an artist," Musiq confirmed. "I’m not going to stop performing or being an artist. I do enjoy singing and all of that, but it takes away from being creative. At least with being a writer-producer you can constantly create and make music and things like that," says Musiq Soulchild.
On top of writing and producing for other acts, Musiq is writing his first book.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Musiq Souldchild is heavily involved as the new Susan G. Komen for the Cure Ambassador. Musiq is raising awareness through his music, making sure everyone knows how important it is to get tested, checked and screened. He's featured on rollingout.com for his new role, where he talks about why it's so important for everyone to take these steps.
His song "Yes" is, "dedicated to breast cancer awareness", and the video features a group of Atlanta women who are breast cancer survivors.
